80% of a child’s learning occurs visually. So if a child has poor vision, he or she may find it more difficult to learn at school and reach their full potential.
Without early diagnosis and treatment, visual defects such as a squint or a “lazy eye” can become permanent.
Good eyesight is every child’s passport to the future.
Yet it’s easy for parents to think there’s nothing wrong with their child’s sight, not realising that vision can change quickly as young eyes develop. Also some children may not recognise they have a visual problem.
At Optical Direct Opticians we believe that it’s never too early to start looking after your eyes and we recommend annual eye examinations for children to ensure optimum visual health.
Eye examinations for U16’s are free under the NHS and are funded by the Scottish Government.
